Studies show that most of YOU made the New Year's Resolution to be healthier and/or lose weight in 2009. One easy way to work towards that goal? BROWN BAG IT!
That's right, bringing your lunch to work is much better for your mind, body, and spirit- giving YOU the ability to control the ingredients that go into your body every day. Try to find the right balance between all the food groups and necessary nutrients, i.e. whole grains, protein, and antioxidants.
In addition, work towards a second common New Year's Resolution- make more $$$. Bringing your lunch to work is a guaranteed way to save your hard earned cash, whether it's bringing last night's leftovers or planning ahead at the grocery. See below for a simple, easy lunch recipe that will last you a couple of days, is good for you and affordable, and most important, is absolutely DELICIOUS. Enjoy and Happy New Year*
1 pre-made rotisserie chicken (found at your local grocer)
1 bottle low-fat dressing- we like Mango Poppyseed and Sesame Ginger Publix brands
1 small package sliced almonds
1 package celery
1 package whole wheat wraps
Cut up chicken in small pieces. Add to a small mixing bowl with a little dressing (you can always add more to your liking), almonds, sliced celery, salt and pepper. Place a couple of heaping spoonfuls in a wheat wrap and enjoy! Accompany with pretzels, an apple, and a bottle of water!
