Researchers are reporting that women are germier than men! A new study has found that women have a greater variety of bacteria on their hands than men do. Researchers aren't sure why this is, but they guess that one reason might be because men have more acidic skin than women. Other possibilities are differences in sweat and oil glands, the frequency of moisturizers or cosmetics used, and skin thickness or hormone production. Women also have more bacteria living under the surface of the skin that is unaccessible to washing. We would never think that men would be "less germy" than women in any category!
