Truly Healthy Halloween Treat

There are only so many sweet treats one can have... hard to believe, but true. After handfuls of chocolate and candy, we went in search of a truly healthy Halloween treat.

We came across a winner from Pink-Parsley.com - Snack-o-Lantern Fruit Cups.

How cute are these!

How to:

Slice the top off of each orange. Discard it or save it for serving with the cups. Use a sharp knife to cut a cone out of the orange, then use a spoon and/or your fingers to scrape out the remaining orange segments. Rinse the outside of each orange under cold water, then set upside down on a clean kitchen towel.

Cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth as you like.

Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Fill with desired fruit up to 2-3 hours before serving.

Starbucks - Holiday Flavors

We love when the holidays role around at Starbucks. Holidays mean pumpkin spice lattes, gingerbread and peppermint. Some of our very favorite flavors!

This year we gave Starbucks' new Salted Caramel Mocha a try and it did not disappoint.

"Espresso and steamed milk, blended mocha sauce and toffee nut flavored syrup. Topped with sweetened whipped cream, caramel sauce and a mixture of turbinado sugar and seal salt."

Order your drink nonfat without whip to save on some calories. We are now looking forward to gingerbread and peppermint mochas...Yum!

Be Aware

Giuliana chose to speak out to be an "example" for women to get themselves checked for breast cancer.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, please watch the video below and be "aware" of Giuliana's story and "aware" of yourself.

Easy and Delicious Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars

We tested out sweettreatsmore.com's Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bar recipe and it was not only delicious, but extremely easy to make. This will definitely be our new holiday go to dessert!

1 (18.5 oz) package Spice Cake Mix
1 (15 oz) solid packed pumpkin
1 cup milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips

Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl mix the spice cake mix and the pumpkin together until evenly combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Press batter into an 8X8 in square pan (or 9X13 for a thinner bar) and bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool.

Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top and cut into squares (we left this out). Enjoy!

Halloween Candy

Halloween is only weeks away and the candy is already flowing. We love Halloween mostly for the candy.

We love candy corn, so our favorite Halloween treat is Brach's Autumn Mix.

The mix contains traditional candy corn, chocolate candy corn and pumpkins. Yum!

We must also BEWARE of Halloween candy... the sweets really do add up! We suggest reaching for everything "mini". Most Halloween candy comes in a mini size, so try to enjoy a bit of what you love instead of an entire candy bar.
